Increase to Minimum Wage

New minimum wage from tomorrow

From Wednesday 1st April 2015, the minimum wage increases from $14.25 to $14.75 per hour. The starting out and training hourly minimum rates will increase by 40 cents to $11.80, as this is set at 80% of the adult minimum wage.

Workplace Relations and Safety Minister Michael Woodhouse sayid that "the Government has taken great care in setting these wage rates to ensure we maintain the balance between protecting our lowest paid workers and ensuring jobs are not lost. While annual inflation is at 0.8%, the minimum wage is increasing by 3.5% which benefits 115,100 workers and increases wages in the economy by $60 million per year".

If you are currently on the minimum wage - what do you need to do? Nothing is the answer.....we will sort that out with effect from 1st April and have allready advised our clients with staff at the minimum wage.
