Class 4 / 5 HIAB Driver | Structural Steel Delivery

Are you a skilled, reliable operator who prides yourself on precision driving?
Our client is seeking a top-tier Class 4 or Class 5 HIAB Driver to join their team. This is a key role delivering high-value structural steel components to busy construction sites right across Northland.

If you excel at managing oversized loads, securing heavy transport, and navigating tight spaces safely, we want to hear from you.

What you will do:

  • Precision Driving: Safely operate Class 4/5 HIAB configurations across urban and highway routes.
  • Load Security: Take full responsibility for chaining, strapping, and securing heavy structural steel safely and legally.
  • Site Coordination: Communicate clearly with yard staff and on-site crane teams for smooth loading/unloading.
  • Compliance & Care: Complete daily pre-starts, maintain accurate logbooks, and keep the gear in top shape.


What you bring:

  • Licensing: Current, clean NZ Class 4 or 5 Licence.
  • HIAB Experience: Solid, proven experience operating a HIAB (non-ticketed operators are welcome to apply).
  • Track Record: 3+ years in heavy transport, ideally within steel, engineering, or construction.
  • Skills: Exceptional reversing skills and total confidence navigating tight, busy construction sites.
  • Reliability: Physically fit, punctual, proactive, and a professional representative on-site.

Please note we can only consider applicants meeting the following criteria:

  • Location: Must currently reside in New Zealand (ideally already based in Northland). Overseas applicants will not be processed.
  • Work Rights: Must hold an NZ Citizenship, Residency, or a valid NZ Work Visa with at least 2 years remaining.
  • Experience Profile: This is heavy transport and precision crane work. Courier, light delivery, or food delivery backgrounds do not meet the technical requirements for this role.
