We are currently recruiting an experienced Security officer to facilitate security , reporting and inter agency cooperation for our client.

The individual appointed into the Auckland Regional Security Officer (RSO) role will also operate as the Security Lead for the client and would be given the specific day-to-day security requirements of this site.

 

The Auckland Regional Security Officer is one of positions that report to a National Security Officer (NSO) who would provide guidance and expertise to the RSO in support of their duties.

 

Within the Territory , the Regional Security Officer will undertake a number of duties, including:

  • Providing best practice security advice and support to community groups, entities, and sites across the Auckland Region and the Territory (defined as Taupo north, inclusive of Hamilton/Waikato and Northland)
  • Recruiting, managing and training a large pool of volunteer security guards, and where appropriate professional security guards, to support the security within the community and with in the Territory
  • Managing protective operations & major events at not only the community sites but public sites within the Territory
  • Defining & deploying standard security policies & operating procedures
  • Supporting the identification and rollout of physical security enhancements
  • Managing security platforms (incl. CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, intercoms, alarm monitoring etc), including user training and vendor support / maintenance
  • Liaising with law enforcement agencies and other related agencies
  • Managing community-wide crisis management and response plans in conjunction with regional government emergency services
  • Ensuring that all security plans are reviewed annually, are kept current and up-to-date
  • Recording and reporting incidents to Police as well as internal reporting
  • Partnering with community groups & recommending changes where appropriate

 

The Security Lead responsibilities will include:

  • Operating as a direct member of the site’s operational management team, and reporting to the responsible affiliations
  • Guiding, training & overseeing dedicated professional security personnel & contractors
  • Maintaining up to date security risk assessments and control plans
  • Ensuring a full suite of robust security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are in place
  • Training and raising awareness among key personnel
  • Undertaking security officer duties (indicatively up to ~2 hrs per work day, but subject to rosters and requirements) alongside professionals and volunteers
  • Overseeing and organising security arrangements for any in-house events and identifying security enhancements for the site
  • Managing the security platforms such as : CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, intercoms and alarm monitoring and making sure they meet legal responsibilities .
  • Playing a key role in crisis-management response
  • Liaising with community groups and regional law enforcement agencies and other related agencies
  • Providing regular operational reports to community boards as required ( no more than one per month; with the exception of incident reports as required)

 

Mandatory Pre-requisites and Qualifications :

  • Fluent written and spoken English
  •  Professional training in security/protection of high-risk facilities and people
  • Martial arts and a high level of physical capability and fitness
  • Previous security experience with current security licenses is desirable
  • At least 5 years working for security companies and/or government or agencies in the protection of facilities/crowded places, and people with relevant experience in security and protocol execution
  • Well organised and good proactive communicator - including computer competency, particularly using Email/Word/Excel/PowerPoint
  • Able to operate in a community environment and able to build not only working relationships, but with different types of people and volunteers
  • Be patient, diplomatic and adaptable, adept at operating under pressure, prioritise and managing multiple competing demands.

 

Desired skills, but not mandatory:

  • 3 years of military or police service
  • Up-to-date registration of security licenses
  • Undergraduate degree level security or management qualifications.

 

While core hours are Mon-Fri, the nature of the role is that some flexibility in relation to days and hours of the week will be required.

This is a full-time, professional position with an annual salary that is commensurate with the level of experience and requisite qualifications.
