Sub Antarctic Expedition

With the aim of inspiring New Zealanders to understand the global significance of the Southern Ocean & Sub-Antarctic Islands and the role they play in understanding and monitoring the effects of climate change, The Sir Peter Blake Trust, together with the Royal New Zealand Navy, the Department of Conservation, New Zealand Antarctic Research Institute, NIWA, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth Development and the Lion Foundation, leave on an expedition to the Auckland Islands for young New Zealanders from 10 - 23 February, 2014.

This expedition is the second voyage for the Young Blake Expeditions programme, and was announced by the Governor General in July 2013. The Young Blake Expeditions programme aims to follow in the footsteps of Sir Peter Blake and to mobilise and inspire the next generation of kiwi leaders, adventurers and marine environmentalists.

12 teenage leaders from around New Zealand were selected after attending the Sir Peter Blake Youth EnviroLeaders' Forum in Christchurch last April.

These leaders will be joined by a crew of scientists, business and community leaders, communicators and adventurers from government agencies and organisations across New Zealand.

On behalf of everyone at Superior Personnel we wish all those travelling to the Sub-Antarctic with the Young Blake Expeditions voyage, a safe and memorable trip.
