Operations Supervisor


The Company:

A large NZ owned importer, producer & distributor of food & beverages. 

The Role:

 Responsible for all teams within the Wiri Operation – day shift - Inwards, Putaway & Replenishment, Picking, Checking and Dispatch
 Ensure all Inwards goods are receipted in, putaway accurately and made available to pick within the target time of 3 hours.
 Work closely with replenishment teams to ensure stock is available in the correct pick faces to best suit the picking schedule
 Ensure all required orders are completed and dispatched on time.
 Delegation of work load to staff – ensure that pick slips are monitored/picked in the correct order.
 Ensure that transfers are picked and dispatched on the assigned day
 Ensure that goods are only be picked in a temp controlled environment.
 Optimisation of labour – supervision of staff to ensure work is completed efficiently and on time.
 Communication across shifts- to encourage better communication across the shifts by regular informal handovers at crossover times.
 Ensure that staff take their coffee and lunch breaks on time and stick to the rostered break times every day.
 Ensure that all warehouse staff clock in/out of Time Target when starting work, finishing work and for all breaks. If they do not clock in and out they will not be paid.
 Manage the control of CHEP
 Ensure the warehouse and surrounding areas are kept clean and organized as per GWP standards
 Audit – work closely with QA to ensure that the warehouse is at audit standard at all times
 Safe working practices, and awareness of security.
 Compliance with audit & quality standards
 Mentor and develop the skills of warehouse staff
 Establish, review and develop measures to maintain a safe working environment, and ensure prompt remedial actions to address safety hazards.
 Maintain an appropriate culture and staff relations climate through addressing issues promptly with staff.
 Multi skilling of the team to achieve staff crewing flexibilities, leading to fewer quality defects and greater ability to cover absences.
 Maintain a philosophy of Continuous Improvement, where operating excellence and customer service is at the fore front.
 Participate and lead LEAN team initiatives to maximize storage capacity and reduce pick times. This includes contributing and encouraging ideas to come from the floor regarding the warehouse layout.
 To drive the warehouse team to meet world class standards throughout the warehouse.


Key Skills:

 Hands on and work with the team floor
 Fork hoist experience, strong warehouse experience
 Motivation of employees
 Minimum of 3 years supervision of staff.
 Knowledge & experience with HACCP requirements
 Computer skills in Excel, Word, & Outlook
 Experience in applying team based Improvement Techniques
 Open and effective communication
 Effective planning and organisation skills
 Managing conflict and challenge for positive outcome
 Able to recognise financial impact of line based decisions
 Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
 Commercial approach to decision making
